Infinity Pools
A vanishing edge that blends the waterline with the horizon for a dramatic, uninterrupted view.
Infinity pools use a vanishing edge on one or more sides so the water appears to merge with the horizon, the sky, or a view beyond the property. Water that spills over the edge is caught in a hidden catch basin and recirculated, so the visual effect is achieved without wasting water. Because the edge relies on a precisely level structural wall and a carefully engineered basin, infinity pools are one of the more technically demanding pool types to build correctly.
Main Features
- Vanishing edge on one or more sides
- Hidden catch basin and recirculation system
- Engineered for a perfectly level overflow edge
- Dramatic, uninterrupted sightlines
Ideal Use
Properties with an elevated position, a view, or a slope that the pool can appear to disappear into.
Design Considerations
- Requires a site with a usable view or elevation change to be effective
- Structural wall on the infinity edge must be engineered and levelled precisely
- Catch basin sizing depends on expected wind, bather load and rainfall
- Edge material and coping detail strongly affect the visual result
Maintenance Considerations
- Catch basin and its pump/filtration loop need regular inspection
- Water level and top-up automation should be checked periodically
- Edge coping and waterproofing should be inspected each season
